"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful people can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." ~ Margaret Mead. |
Other ways to Help Even if you have just 5 minutes, you CAN make a difference! Here are things you can do to help in less than an hour: 1. The quickest thing to do is share links to the music and/or video via email/social networking sites or buy CDs or downloads. 2. You can also choose to start a small "Pay it Forward" campaign - send CDs to a friend and suggest that if they appreciate the music they do the same. 3. Help spread the word by writing a letter to the editor of your local newspaper, posting information to blogs, social media pages, or join the Life in the Years Facebook page and ask your friends to join too. For those who are more ambitious or have more time, here are more things you can do: 1. Organize a fundraiser and sell CDs through a group (School, Church, Social Group, Senior Center, Workplace) 2. Host a Life in the Years house party to help create awareness about our nation's Elderly, sell CDs, and get others to join our "small group of thoughtful people." 3. Become a Life in the Years coordinator and help us enlist Champions in your state. If you find an interested organization, we'll work with you to make it happen. Just send us an email. |
We're also interested in working with schools, civic organizations, businesses and churches who are willing to help by creating a team of Champions within their organization. We'll provide the personal assistance necessary to get you started and we'll help along the way to ensure you're successful. Please send us an email if you're interested in getting involved! As a grassroots initiative we need caring people in communities across the country to help make it successful. What started as a small group of people trying to change the way our society views and values its elders is growing in to a national awareness campaign helping to fight Alzheimer's. Our goal is to have 500 Champions per state and contribute $2.5M toward fighting Alzheimer's disease. We'd love to have Life in the Years become a Gold Record on behalf of our elderly and send a strong message about valuing them. Being one of 500 Champions in your state can - and will - make a difference! |
Life in the Years is a joint initiative of Musicians for a Cause and the Moore Center |
All it takes to become a Life in the Years Champion is to volunteer 1 to 2 hours to create a personal page and send it to your friends. It's easy, and there's no cost other than your time. Consider giving up just one night of watching a couple of TV shows, a game, or surfing the web and the results will be very rewarding! You can do it in honor of a loved one too, and you can even do it as a family... instead of renting a movie, create a team of Champions! Creating a personal web page - You can honor a loved one and add your own pictures and comments. Email the page to family and friends - Sharing the music will create compassion and awareness and help generate support for fighting Alzheimer's. When people visit your page they can listen to the songs and read the lyrics and inspiration notes. If they're inspired to buy a CD or make a donation, that's great. The least that will happen is they'll leave your page with more compassion for the elderly. All we ask is that you do your best to help get the word out. We've set up a special website where you can create your personal Champion's page. Everything is done online and you can use the major social networking sites too. |
